2am-6am is prime time for picture taking!
The city is meant to be seen at night! And while there are places to take pictures 24/7 you’re usually wearing comfortable clothes rather than clothes that you ideally want to take pictures in. Not to mention places are so crowded during the day. So if you’ve got the time, or your night time plans have bored you, go take a walk around the city and take some pictures!
Don’t under estimate a trip in a limo
Adding a limo to a big night out is often icing on a cake. It’s much better than waiting for Uber’s or taxis/getting separated etc…. and it adds so much WOW factor to your night. One thing to remember, these limo company’s usually quote your rides for an hour instead of just one-way trips. Take advantage of that! Grab some champagne and make time to take a trip to the Vegas sign before reaching your destination!
Get matching outfits
Bachelorette parties
Most women are experts in this field and already know this. I can’t remember a bachelorette party that didn’t have matching shirts to wear for at least one day, and formal wear where all the girls are 1 color, and the bride is in white!
Bachelor parties
Guys I’m not going to tell you to wear matching formal wear all in the same night, as far as casual wear during the day and pool parties, your options are limitless. Hockey jerseys, basketball jerseys, baseball jerseys, football jerseys, matching sailor hats, sport tee shirts are some creative things ideas to come up with. Have those for one day. It will be a big hit I promise. Just make sure you’re not walking around aimlessly. Have a table or a section.
Decide if you want to come in odd or even numbers
If you want to be on a buddy system where everyone always has someone around, come in even numbers.
Keep the numbers based so it’s easier to stay together. If your group likes to break off from the pack and do their own thing, definitely do odd numbers.
That leaves an optional buddy system for the everyone else, and if you need to go play the lone wolf, you won’t feel like you’re leaving a anyone behind.
Coming to Vegas on holiday weekends
Expect paying 50% to 150% more than what you normally pay. This is as far as clubs, shows, and hotels. Dinner and drink prices tend to stay the same. Lines will be longer and waits will be extended. Be sure to arrive on time, make reservations, and pay in advance as soon as possible.
Don’t expect anything that’s too good to be true
I’ll just leave that there with no explanation. It’s a common sense rule.
Arrive Thursday and arrive back Monday
Nothing helps recover a return trip to Vegas like a short week, but 2 back to back short weeks is excellent for recovery. Also, in football season you get Thursday night football, Sunday game day in the sports books, and in the summer, you get Xs nightswim, which is regarded as the best party of all time.
Keep tracking apps on your phones
Make sure you have “Find my iPhone” and similar apps installed and on at all times. You don’t want to lose your phone!
Take a day to walk the strip
It’s a great bonding experience. Skip the clubs and parties for one day or night. The city is a lot to behold on its own. Be sure you see it.
Pay for as much as possible in advance
Go ahead and get it out of the way. You don’t want to have to worry about how much you’re going to spend once you arrive. Also, if you’re gambling, you can lose… a lot. That 5k budget you had towards events won’t sound as good if you lose a couple thousand in a night. Also, nothing is worse than making a big plan to party one day, a few people sleep in, and your friends have to cover that portion of the balance. When people have invested in something, people are more likely to get up and make the most of it.
When you’re not taking pictures, put your phones away as much as possible
Enjoy the moment!
Men, Try to wear a suit or a blazer at least one night
Look like you’ve got some class to yourself. Women in Vegas dress to kill!!!!!! It’s almost like a courtesy. The amount of pain and money they put themselves through to look good in Vegas, it’s the least you can do. Trust me, they will respect it.
If you don’t have a suit or blazer, ask and I’ll get you places and tailors within your budgets between 1-2 hours and done.
Girls already know the drill with dresscode, and I’m certainly not going to tell them what to do, they’re doing just fine without me, lol
If you make significantly more money than everyone else, spend it
These are almost always once in a lifetime vacations. Step it up and take one for the team. Especially on the bachelor/bachelorette/birthday parties. You will be enshrined eternally as a Legend, and talked about for decades to come and everyone will be grateful.
If someone’s selling point is to downgrade another venue or club, they’re probably not people you want to deal with. Even if they’re right.
Think about it. Do you really want to listen to someone who’s selling point is to put others down? You would much rather the venue and party speak for itself.
Even if they’re right, if new plans fall through at a different destination, no matter what, you’re always going to wish you’ve stuck with the original plan. You’ve picked destinations way in advance as either a group decision or what the head of the party wants to do. You’ve likely laid everything out, and those were your final decisions. Stick to them. If things fall through, call an audible and fix from there when you must.
What big groups of ladies should expect and a little advice
Ladies, you’re going to be bombarded by people all over the place. Everywhere you turn you’re going to be hit on, hollered at, and whistled at. Promoters, security guards, bartenders, bachelor parties, it’s kind of insane actually, and extremely annoying…. and out of 1,000 you’ll likely enjoy speaking with 10…. Just remember these few tips.
- When you aren’t sure about people, be nice but not too nice. Sometimes you give people an inch they try to take a mile. If you let someone into your circle, they may not want to leave. Keep that one blunt friend around who isn’t scared to tell someone off. Everyone has one.
- Start a group chat and stay on it. No one gets left behind. (I spoke about this above)
- Don’t be entitled. Not to say anyone is, but the constant attention can really get to your head. People tend to make the most happen for humble people.
Take yourself out to a nice dinner
Vegas is known for its restaurants. Every celebrity chef you can name from Guy Fieri to Gordon Ramsay. You name them, they’ve got a restaurant here. Treat yourself to some world class cuisine and service. Also, a big tip. Find out about food portions. Some of the more European influenced restaurants don’t exactly feed you the largest portions. If you’re a big eater, steak houses and buffets might be more your speed. Oh, and make reservations as far in advance as possible. Some are booked out for years in advance.
Check out a game at a sports book
If you’re lucky enough to stay on a Saturday or Sunday in a football season, March madness, or a championship weekend, go into a sports book inside one of the major casinos! Bets are everywhere ranging from $20 bucks up to millions of dollars. Even if you’re not a big sports person, you’ll feel the tension and the excitement right when you walk into the room.
Don’t bring kids under 21
Let’s be frank, there’s that small percentage of people in Vegas tend to have little to no manners to say the least. These people stand out like sore thumbs. Yelling curse words, excessive screaming, people passing out cards with nude women, and so much more. These aren’t people you want to have your kids around….. leave the kids at home.
Make reservations as EARLY as possible when planning a big trip
I can’t stress this enough.
- Dining – Be sure to make your reservations in advance. You can’t just show up to these world renowned restaurants and get sat immediately from 5-9pm. These places are booked way in advanced.
- Hotels – These things can sell out, prices can sky rocket. Find the hotels and get them ASAP.
Sometimes you can miss good last minute deals but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Vegas is an overwhelming city all together
It’s 8 square miles of all the modern architecture, hotels, booze, and food you can handle. These are literally the fanciest hotels in the world and some of the biggest.
If you like live music, it’s free everywhere! Find out if Patrick Sieben is playing anywhere
Almost every casino has live music somewhere every night usually through 7-11 and some all day. If you’re not the club type, those performances are always amazing. If you’re lucky, you’ll find Patrick Sieben. He’s the best! Patrick is an MGM casinos resident. Everyone raves about this guy. You can usually find him at the Aria Lift bar.
Do research before you commit to something
Always keep your options open, but get your own idea of the places you want to attend. In nightclubs and pool parties with promoters and hosts, their job isn’t necessarily to make sure you have the best time, their job is to make sure they get you in the door.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made advanced plans with people, then they were promised the world by someone else who couldn’t deliver, and it completed ruined their vacation.
These aren’t always just quick trips too, these are usually once in a lifetime trips, and once in a lifetime nights. IE: Bachelor parties, bachelorette parties, wedding parties, family vacations, once in a lifetime overseas trips…. And then if you try to revert back to your original plans, more often than not, your spot and your time is gone. Plan accordingly.
If the internet was a place, it would be Vegas
It’s got pop ups, spam, scams, people claiming to be Nigerian Princes, mail order brides, all the wonderful jewels of the internet we try so hard to avoid.
While some of the scammers are easy to spot right away, some you might not always be able to. When someone is trying to sell you something outside of stores and casinos, ask for credentials.
Never hand anyone cash on the street. If you want to book something or find a deal you like, it’s better to book online.
On a more positive note, this is definitely a good thing as it gives you the whole world at your finger tips. All the shopping and deals you can imagine are available, as well as same day delivery services.
Just keep in mind, a lot can be very misleading and overwhelming. It’s going to seem like every single person is trying to sell you something. If you do see a deal you like or you meet someone who you think is credible, use caution.
